AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
|
 Aggravated Assault is an extremely serious offense.
Traditionally, a person had to inflict or attempt to inflict Serious Bodily Injury, in order to be guilty of Aggravated Assault. The law has now been changed and most people don't realize it.
The law now protects certain persons so that even a Simple Assault, infliction of bodily injury, against them becomes an Aggravated Assault. These protected persons include but are not limited to Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Probation Officers, Teachers. Furthermore, an Aggravated Assault committed with a firearm is usually charged as a Felony of the First Degree, carrying a Mandatory Minimum Sentence of Five to Ten Years incarceration.
